- When chin is retreated backward or chin length is not long enough, face looks short and mouth gives an impression of being protruded. This chin is called as short chin. Short chin makes boundary between neck and jaw unclear and may make human impression look frail and weak.
As a type of short chin, a case that only jaw length is short without malocclusion and other case that jaw length is short with malocclusion as lower teeth are positioned backward could be included.
In order to correct this short chin, overall facial configuration (contouring) and image could be improved by extending size and length of jaw matching with facial ratio by reinforcing frail mandible by using implant.
